1. Who we are

ThriftFlipping.com is published and operated by Scout Theory LLC (“we”, “us”). By reading or using the site you agree to these terms, together with our Privacy Policy and affiliate disclosure. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. What this site is

ThriftFlipping.com is a free collection of guides about sourcing at thrift stores and garage sales, selling on online marketplaces, cleaning and repairing finds, and running a small reselling business. There are no accounts, no checkout and no payments here. We do not sell products, and we cannot track, change, cancel or refund an order. If you buy something after following a link, the retailer or marketplace handles your order, support and returns.

3. Information, not advice

Everything on the site is general information and opinion about reselling, written for education. It is not professional advice, and reading it does not create a client, advisory or any other professional relationship with us.

• Tax and accounting. Guides on 1099-K reporting, sales tax, deductions and record keeping are a starting point only. Tax rules differ by location and change. Ask a qualified accountant or tax professional about your own situation.
• Legal and business. Articles about business structure, such as when to form an LLC, or about platform rules and consumer law do not replace advice from a lawyer.
• Money and income. We cannot promise that you will earn anything. Results depend on effort, sourcing, market conditions, the items you find and many things outside our control. Do not spend money you cannot afford to lose on the strength of an article.
• Safety and care. Cleaning, stain removal, repair, leather care, steaming, pressing and packing involve products, heat, tools and lifting. Follow the label on every product you use, test on a hidden spot first, keep chemicals away from children and pets, and stop if something looks wrong. You do these tasks at your own risk. If an item may be restricted, recalled or unsafe, check the marketplace rules and the manufacturer before you list or use it.

Affiliate links are marked as sponsored in the page code. Many other links, such as those to listing software, shipping tools and reference sites, are plain links that earn us nothing. Commissions help pay for the free guides, but we choose what to mention based on what we think is useful to resellers. We do not claim to have tested every product or service we mention, so treat our write-ups as a starting point for your own research. Our affiliate disclosure page repeats this in more detail.

5. Forms, analytics and privacy

The contact form and the BOLO list sign-up on the home page send what you type to a Google Sheet that we operate. Along with your message, your browser sends the page the form was on, the page that referred you, your browser and device type, your language setting and how long the page was open. We use this to answer you, fix and improve the guides, and filter out spam.

The site also uses Google Analytics to count visits, loads its fonts from Google Fonts, and runs the affiliate scripts described above. The Privacy Policy explains each of these, what they record, and how to ask us to look up, correct or delete what you sent.

6. Other sites and marketplaces

Our guides link to marketplaces such as eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, Facebook Marketplace and Whatnot, and to software, shipping services and data sources. We do not own or control those sites. A link is not an endorsement, and we are not responsible for their content, prices, availability, privacy practices or terms. When you leave ThriftFlipping.com, their rules apply.

Marketplace fees, seller rules and shipping rates are set by the companies that run them, and you are responsible for following their policies and the laws that apply to your selling.

7. Accuracy and availability

We work to keep the guides accurate, but reselling changes quickly and fees, policies, carrier rates and tax rules can change after an article is written. Treat anything time-sensitive as a lead to check against the platform, carrier or agency itself. If you spot something out of date, tell us through the contact form and choose the correction topic.

The site is provided as it is. It may be unavailable from time to time, and we may change, move or remove pages without notice.

8. Using the site responsibly

Please use the site for its intended purpose. Do not try to gain unauthorized access to it, interfere with how it works, overload it with automated requests, or use the forms to send spam, unlawful material or another person’s private information.

9. Ownership and copying

Unless a page says otherwise, the text, page design and original graphics on this site belong to Scout Theory LLC. You are welcome to read, print and keep a copy of any guide for your own non-commercial use, and to quote a short excerpt with credit and a link back to the page. Please do not republish whole articles or reuse the site’s design or content commercially without asking us first.

Names, logos and images of other companies, including Amazon, eBay and the other marketplaces and tools we mention, belong to their owners. Mentioning them does not mean they sponsor or endorse this site.

10. Disclaimers and liability

The site and everything on it is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that the information is complete, current or suited to your purpose.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Scout Theory LLC and its owners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost profit, lost sales or lost opportunity, arising from your use of the site, your reliance on its information, your purchases or sales, or the content or conduct of any third-party site. Nothing in these terms limits any right or liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the site changes. When we do, we will post the new version here and change the “Last updated” date at the top. If you keep using the site after an update, you accept the updated terms.
