The September Reset: Your 30-Day Q4 Prep Playbook

Published August 15, 2026 · 8 min read

For resellers, the year is won or lost in the fourth quarter — for many sellers, October through December delivers the biggest sales months of the year by a wide margin. And the difference between a frantic Q4 and a profitable one is almost entirely decided in September. This is your 30-day playbook: four weeks, four missions, and by October 1 you’re selling while everyone else is scrambling.

Week 1 (Sept 1–7): Clear the Decks

You cannot run a Q4 sprint dragging a summer anchor. This week is about ending two backlogs:

Also this week: hit Labor Day weekend sales hard (see the three-day blitz plan) — it’s the best sourcing weekend left on the calendar.

Week 2 (Sept 8–14): Stock the Supply Room

Q4 volume dies without supplies, and buying them mid-rush means paying more and waiting longer. One important 2026 wrinkle: USPS has a temporary 8% rate increase in effect on domestic services through January 17, 2027 — so your shipping costs this Q4 are higher than last year’s. Build that into your pricing now, and stock up before December:

SupplyQ4 Rule of Thumb
Poly mailers (2–3 sizes)Buy 3× your normal monthly volume
Boxes & bubble wrapFragile-gift season = more boxes than you think
Thermal labelsOne full spare roll minimum at all times
Tissue, thank-you cardsQ4 buyers gift-wrap; premium feel earns 5-star reviews
TapeYou will always underestimate tape

🔧 Rollo USB Thermal Label Printer

If you’re still taping paper labels in December, every one of your 100+ Q4 shipments costs you five extra minutes and looks less professional doing it. The Rollo prints in seconds with zero ink costs — it’s the single most-recommended upgrade before the holiday rush.

🔧 Accuteck ShipPro Digital Shipping Scale

With rates up 8% through January 2027, guessing weights is a margin leak you can’t afford — one ounce over a tier can eat a dollar per package. Weigh everything, price shipping precisely, keep the difference.

Week 3 (Sept 15–21): Optimize the Store You Already Have

Q4 traffic multiplies whatever your listings already are — strong listings get more sales, weak listings get more ignores. Spend this week on the highest-leverage fixes:

🌱 Pro Tip: Add the word “gift” thoughtfully where it’s true — “great gift for coffee lovers” in a description costs nothing and matches exactly how November buyers search.

Week 4 (Sept 22–30): The Sourcing Push

Now fill the store. Fall estate sales are peaking (here’s the strategy), flea market vendors are clearing out, thrift stores are processing back-to-school donation waves — and everything you buy this week has time to list, index, and rank before October traffic arrives. Prioritize giftable categories: toys, games, electronics, cozy clothing, kitchen, and the 25 season-closer BOLOs.

⚠️ Hard Truth

A 30-day plan you read in one sitting and never schedule is entertainment, not preparation. Most resellers KNOW September matters — and still arrive in November understocked, under-supplied, and overwhelmed.

✅ The Fix

Right now, put four recurring blocks on your actual calendar — one mission per week, even two hours each. A mediocre plan executed beats a perfect plan admired. October 1 is the deadline; December you is the beneficiary.

Do these four weeks honestly and Q4 stops being a gamble. You’ll have a clean store, deep supplies, optimized listings, and fresh inventory — while your competition is still photographing their death pile on December 3rd.
