Garage sale season is in full swing, and if you are not walking out with at least a few of these items every Saturday morning, you are leaving money on the racks. This list is built from actual 2026 resale data — not guesswork, not last year's trends.

Print this out. Screenshot it. Tape it to your dashboard. These are the 15 items you should be scanning for at every garage sale, estate sale, and thrift store run this summer.

The 2026 Summer BOLO List

1. Vintage digital cameras (digicams)

Gen Z is obsessed with the lo-fi aesthetic of early 2000s point-and-shoot cameras. Canon PowerShots and Nikon Coolpix models from 2005-2010 are the sweet spot. Buy price at garage sales: $3-10. Sell price on Depop: $80-150. The key is testing functionality — make sure the camera powers on, the lens extends, and the shutter fires. Batteries are cheap on Amazon.

2. Sony Walkmans

Especially the yellow "Sports" models. Working units sell for $100-300 depending on the model. Even non-working Walkmans sell for $30-60 to collectors and repair hobbyists. Check the battery compartment for corrosion — that is the most common killer.

3. Vintage Pyrex

The bowls with mid-century patterns — Butterprint, Spring Blossom, Friendship — are perennial sellers. A complete mixing bowl set in good condition moves for $60-120. Individual pieces with sought-after patterns sell for $25-50. Chips and cracks kill value, so inspect carefully.

4. Carhartt jackets and workwear

Vintage Carhartt has crossed over from workwear to streetwear. Detroit jackets, chore coats, and bib overalls from the 1990s in faded, distressed condition are actually worth more than clean ones on Depop and Grailed. Buy: $5-15 at garage sales. Sell: $60-150 depending on age and condition.

5. Chrome and silver home decor

Interior design is shifting away from gold toward chrome and silver. The "Maximalist Grandma" aesthetic is driving demand for chrome lamps, silver-plated serving trays, and metallic picture frames. These items have been ignored at thrift stores for years because gold was dominant. Buy them now for $3-10 before other resellers catch on. Sell on Facebook Marketplace and Etsy for $35-65.

Pro Tip: Chrome decor is a trend that is still early. Most resellers have not adjusted their scouting yet. If you can build inventory in this category now, you will have listings ready when demand peaks this fall. First-mover advantage is real.

6. Retro gaming consoles and cartridges

Nintendo 64, original PlayStation, GameCube, and Game Boy systems all have strong resale markets. An N64 with controllers and cables: $40-80. GameCube with controller: $50-90. Individual game cartridges can be worth anywhere from $5 to $500+ depending on the title. Use the eBay app to scan bar codes on the spot.

7. Patagonia and North Face fleeces

Gorpcore is still going strong. Vintage Patagonia Synchilla fleeces, especially ones with bold 1990s patterns, sell for $55-95 on Poshmark and Depop. North Face Nuptse puffers from the same era bring $80-180. These are counter-seasonal buys — garage sale prices in summer are 50-70% lower than what thrift stores charge in fall.

8. VCR/DVD combo units

This is one of the most underrated flips in 2026. VCR/DVD combos sell for $80-200 on eBay because people need them to digitize old home videos and VHS tapes. They are disappearing from production entirely. Test the VHS mechanism with a tape — a working unit is worth 3-5x a non-working one.

9. Discontinued Bath and Body Works products

When a scent gets retired, devoted buyers pay significant markups on eBay to restock. Full-size body sprays, lotions, and candles in discontinued scents sell for $15-40 each. Check garage sales for collections — people routinely purge these during spring cleaning. This niche is driven by habit and emotional attachment, making demand remarkably stable.

10. Vintage band t-shirts

Single-stitch t-shirts from the 1980s and 1990s with concert tour dates or album art are liquid gold. Metallica, Nirvana, Tupac, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, and Rolling Stones are the top sellers. Verify age by checking the tag (Hanes Beefy-T, Screen Stars, Fruit of the Loom — all period-correct) and construction (single-stitch hemming = pre-mid-1990s). Buy: $1-5. Sell: $50-300+.

Hard Truth: Fake vintage band tees are everywhere — they are printed on purpose-distressed blanks and sold at retail chains. Learn to distinguish originals by the feel of the print (vintage screen prints feel like part of the fabric, not a thick layer on top), tag style, and single-stitch construction.

11. Mushroom and nature-motif ceramics

The "cottagecore to grandmacore" pipeline is feeding demand for mushroom canisters, floral teacups, nature-themed wall art, and hand-painted pottery. Merry Mushroom by Sears from the 1970s is the grail, but any vintage mushroom-motif kitchen item sells. Buy: $2-8. Sell: $25-60 on Etsy.

12. Cast iron cookware

Lodge, Griswold, and Wagner cast iron pieces are consistently profitable. Griswold and Wagner vintage pieces command premium prices from collectors. Even modern Lodge skillets bought at garage sales for $5-10 resell for $20-35 because the brand loyalty is intense. Check for cracks by tapping with a metal utensil — a clear ring means intact, a dull thud means cracked.

13. Levi's 501 jeans

Vintage Levi's 501s remain one of the most reliable flips in reselling. Made-in-USA pairs from the 1980s and 1990s with selvedge denim or unique washes bring $60-150 on eBay and Depop. Even modern 501s in good condition flip for $25-40. Check the care tag and red tab for authentication.

14. Board games (sealed or complete)

Sealed board games are an underrated category. Discontinued titles, vintage editions, and games with cult followings sell for multiples of their original retail. Even opened games sell well if all pieces are present. Hero Quest, Fireball Island, and vintage strategy games are the home runs, but even mainstream games like sealed Monopoly special editions or complete Trivial Pursuit sets move consistently.

15. Cottagecore linens

Embroidered tablecloths, lace curtains, hand-crocheted doilies, quilted throw blankets, and linen napkin sets are all trending in the home decor space. These items are abundant at estate sales and garage sales, often priced at $1-5. Clean, photograph with natural light, and list on Etsy for $20-60. The home decor flipping guide covers this category in depth.

🔧 Vansky UV Flashlight

A UV light reveals hidden stains on linens, clothing, and upholstery that are invisible to the naked eye. Essential for inspecting thrift store finds before you buy. Under $15 and fits on your keychain.
